Thank you so much for stopping by Missionary Moms! I hope and pray that you might find encouragement here, as well as enjoy the opportunity to connect with other dear moms serving the Lord throughout the world!

My name is Ashley and I am a  Christian missionary mom of a 6  year old young lady, a 4 year old little boy, and a 1 1/2 year old little girl. My family lives in Russia, sharing the gospel with college students. My desire is that my life would be lived for the sake of loving and serving the Lord, loving and serving my family, and loving and serving others, to the glory of God.

Several years ago as I was thinking of other moms who share the same passions, callings, and many of the same unique life issues, God gave me the idea to create a place online where we can gather together in community, even despite the thousands of miles spread between all of us. Knowing how relationships with my dear moms friends here where we serve has be so life-giving, my desire was to create a place for us to gather in even greater community to learn from one another and be encouraged as we share the wonderful unifying similarity of serving the same amazing God!  I love connecting with moms on this adventure of motherhood, whether overseas or not, and know what an encouragement it is to share our joys and struggles, and just to walk through life together. I look forward to the chance to get to know you here!

If you enjoy this site and would like to introduce yourself via your own blog, feel free to leave a link here and I’ll add you to the blogroll! Please be sure to visit one another and get to know some of your dear sisters in Christ all around the globe!

    Ashley,

I got a link to your blog from a friend in the U.S. I’ve added you to my google reader. 🙂 My husband and I have lived overseas for 10 years now and we have two kids. Its always fun to connect with other moms in the same situation.

I was wondering – in your search did you happen on the Women of the Harvest website? If you didn’t I encourage you to check it out!

So glad to “meet” you! Found you through the UBP.

I’ve always admired missionaries. I guess because it’s something I thought I could never do. Between you and me, I was one of those kids that prayed, “God, I’ll go where ever you want and do whatever you want me to do. And if you don’t ask me to be a missionary, then that’s OK with me.” Sad, but true.

Loved finding your blog. My family served in Asia for several years and we are now in pastoral ministry in the US again. I work with women’s ministry, and I believe I’ll always have a heart for cross cultural ministry and for missionary women. I loved being a missionary overseas and pray that God may use us in that way again someday. So glad to discover your story!

I have two blogs, but I’m participating with the party at my book blog — Teen Lit Review (http://teenlitreview.blogspot.com). I’d love it if you stopped by either one.

  16. 16 RebeccaC March 21, 2009 at 5:05 am

Hi! I hopped over from the Blog party. Glad to have found your blog! Our famiy is in Mexico and we’ve been here for a little over 3 years. You’re right — raising kids in a different culture is a challenge! I wouldn’t trade it, though!

One of my 13yos and I were walking back from a Sister’s house last night and we were talking about living here. We agreed that there really wasn’t any place on Earth we’d rather be…even though the mosquitos are ridiculous and the heat is insane and the dust is incredible. Still, it’s where God put us, so we’ll bloom here!

I’m looking forward to reading more here on your site. Have a blessed weekend!

Hey it was so great to find your blog and so encouraging. I moved to Aalborg, Denmark 5 yrs ago to work with teenagers at a baptist church. While here I met my husband in the church and we were married 3 yrs. ago and this past March we had our first baby girl Lily Hadassa. There are not many moms that stay at home here in Denmark so its refreshing to stay in contact with other moms in ministry. I have maternity leave until February then I will be staying at home with our little girl at least for now. My husband and I are now working with the International ministry at the same church. But there could be possibilities of it growing into a church plant. So I am a different kind of misssionary but my husband and I desire so much to use our family to share the gospel with people. I look forward to reading your blog.
    Many blessings, Kylene

Ashley – Thanks for finding me. What an encouragement to read a blog by a mom on the field. We are in the process of raising support to move to Guatemala. I just began homeschooling this fall as well. I love it! I look forward to reading more of your blog and others who are living life “on the move”.

    Hey ashley,
I was just wondering if you or any of the other ladies on your blog have any wisdom when it comes to disciplining young children. I was listening today to a podcast by FamilyLife Today on this subject. Our Lily will soon be 7months soon. Do you think that 7 month olds can understand the word No?
My other question is that here in Denmark spanking your child is illegal. Are there any other ladies living in countries where they are not allowed to spank their children?
    Thanks for your help.
    Autumn blessings,
    Kylene
