Revelation 7:9-10

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!'” Revelation 7:9-10

Maybe it’s because I majored in linguistics in university, or maybe it comes from living my life immersed in a language that is not my own, but I LOVE this verse and the image that it paints in my mind, however small and insufficient it may be. Tears have often welled up in my eyes as I’ve read it, and more often so when I worship God in song side-by-side with my Russian brothers and sisters in Christ. One of the greatest gifts to me while living in a place that doesn’t share my native tongue is getting to experience this tiny sliver of what is to come in heaven. I can’t wait for the day when literally every tongue, tribe, and nation stands side by side singing perfectly to our Creator!

I spent a little bit of time collecting translations of the Lord’s Prayer in various languages. I wish I had audio versions that we could all listen to, but hopefully the beauty of these written languages alone will be inspiring enough to cause us all to stop for a moment to praise God for what He is doing as He calls all of His creation throughout the world to worship Him. Enjoy! Praise God!

Да святится имя Твоё;
Да придёт Царство Твоё;
И на земле, как на небе;
Дай нам на сей день;
должникам нашим;

Spanish:

Padre nuestro que Estás en los cielos:
Santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu reino,
sea hecha tu voluntad,

Lithuanian:

Paire de Cèl, Paire nòstre,
sanctificat lo teu Nom!
Fai avançar ton Reialme :
ta Volontat sus la tèrra
coma se fa dins lo Cèl !
Lo tròç de Pan del Besonh,
balha-lo-nos cada jorn.
Perdona-nos a nosautres,
que perdonam atanben
als que nos an fach quicòm.
Desliura-nos de l’Espròva,
desliura-nos de çò Mal.
Amen.

French:

Notre Père, qui es aux cieux,
Que ton Nom soit sanctifié,
Que ton règne vienne,
Que ta volonté soit faite
Sur la terre comme au ciel.
Donne-nous aujourd’hui
Notre pain de ce jour ;

Finnish:

Isä meidän, joka olet taivaissa,
Pyhitetty olkoon sinun nimesi.
Tulkoon sinun valtakuntasi.
Tapahtukoon sinun tahtosi,
myös maan päällä niin kuin taivaassa.
Anna meille tänä päivänä
meidän jokapäiväinen leipämme.
Ja anna meille meidän syntimme anteeksi,
niin kuin mekin anteeksi annamme niille,
jotka ovat meitä vastaan rikkoneet.
Äläkä saata meitä kiusaukseen,
vaan päästä meidät pahasta.
[Sillä sinun on valtakunta
ja voima ja kunnia iankaikkisesti.]

    Indonesian:

    Bapa kami yang di sorga,
    Dikuduskanlah nama-Mu,
    datanglah Kerajaan-Mu
    di bumi seperti di sorga.
    Berikanlah kami pada hari ini
    makanan kami yang secukupnya
dan ampunilah kami akan kesalahan kami,
    seperti kami juga mengampuni
    orang yang bersalah kepada kami;
dan janganlah membawa kami ke dalam pencobaan,
tetapi lepaskanlah kami dari pada yang jahat.
Karena Engkaulah yang empunya Kerajaan dan kuasa
    dan kemuliaan sampai selama-lamanya.
    Amin.

That is awesome! I learned it in Russian also!

    Here it is in Ukrainian.
