Advent Conspiracy

As we discuss the many traditions of Christmas, likely the greatest known tradition of all is that of gift giving. But what should giving look like during this season? I think you will be greatly encouraged by Advent Conspiracy’s ministry whose goal is to encourage believers to worship fully, give more, spend less, and love all during the season of advent. Please take a couple of minutes to watch these clips and to be greatly encouraged and potentially motivated to change how you give!

Also, Vicky at The City Cradle has been doing a great series on Advent Conspiracy. Go here to read more!

What do you do in your family to keep the tradition of giving focused on loving the Lord and loving others? Please share!

We keep gift giving separate from Christmas. Since we live in a culture that does gifts for New Year, we go along with that. (And even that is VERY limited in our home.) Our children don’t even really know that people get presents at Christmas in other countries. They would think that it’s strange, since Christmas is Jesus’ birthday. šŸ™‚

We collect money all through the month of December to “get a present for Jesus.” Our children are little, but they very clearly understand this. Around Christmas they go buy something for an orphan with that money. By giving it to him/her, they are giving it to Jesus. I underestimated them last year when we started this; I didn’t think they’d understand. They do! And they take it very seriously.

Oh Holy Night: The Peace of 1914 was written especially for sharing Christ with others at Christmas. My ‘daughter’ in Romania designed the cover and did the illustrations.
