We recently invited all of our neighbors in the staircase of our apartment over for glogg and aebleskiver (they are like round ball pancakes) a very traditional danish christmas treat. We have done this the past two years in our old apartment building but now it was time to try it in our new place. I was not sure how many would actually show up because it can be a little out of there comfort zone for a danish person to go to a strangers home. But we have been pleasantly surprised. We had 3 people come and 2 that said she would have liked to but she had to work. The others are a bit older so it could have been difficult for them to come up the stairs to our 4th floor apartment. But we had a lovely time and one of our neighbors stayed the whole afternoon. It was a great time and a good way for us to meet them and they could get to know us a little bit better.
I do like the idea of of baking cookies and giving a christmas card with a verse on it. Its a good way to share Jesus with your neighbors. Sometimes I am good at thinking of kind things to do but it is the actually sharing the message of Jesus with them verbally that can be challenging.
I also really like the birthday party for Jesus. I think we will do that on Christmas day with the international students that are not able to go home for Christmas. Thanks for the idea!

Ashley,

I love your ideas! specially the one about throwing Jesus a birthday party! that would be amazing!

In the past we've had women groups come and share our favorite holiday recipes we've made kitchen globes and aprons with Christmas motifs... and we've also had a Movie night with a Nativity story ...and we've called a bunch of people to come help us decorate our Christmas tree.

This year, we are taking a break so Christmas will be very personal and potentially boring haha.
