I'll have to try that. Living in the Middle East means there's plenty of olive oil in the house.

Mosquitoes are really bad here too and while it's been pretty chilly here, it's not cold enough to kill the little vermin. So I'll have to remember that advice about the tea/laurel.

Also, don't forget how good honey is with allergies and coughs. For help with allergies it must be local honey.

These are great tips! I'm sure I'll need to try the olive oil one eventually and Ashley I might just try the tea bath, my oldest has fair skin with some irritation that she can't stop scratching.

Ironically, my kids just bumped heads really hard yesterday and I tried your trick (since I saw your post before it was up!) and it worked! No bruises today! They started getting goose eggs, but today there isn't a sign. Nice!

One random thing that we tried on my daughter, as suggested by our Russian doctor for some really bad bug bites that got infected, was giving her a bath with black tea and laurel leaves. We made about a liter of very strong black tea with about 12 laurel leaves in it and poured it (with the leaves) into the bath. I helped both the infection and the itchiness. Who would have thought?! The laurel leaves have an antiseptic property and I am guessing the tea soothes the itch? Has anyone heard of this? I just know it worked!
